Choosing the Right Excavator Equipment Planet Equipment
2023.05.30 16:48 Nana_923 Choosing the Right Excavator Equipment Planet Equipment
| What are the things to consider when choosing the right excavator? Once you’ve been hired for a new position as a result of a successful bid, it’s time to confirm that you have all the required tools. One of the most common pieces of construction equipment used by businesses to complete new projects is the excavator. Choosing the best excavator might be challenging with so many alternatives available. https://preview.redd.it/wse0xjnsez2b1.jpg?width=259&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d92dbd914382a1c3b1c01e1213ca7c3bb194a58 Fortunately, this lesson will show you how to pick an excavator that meets your needs. After that, match your excavator to the task’s requirements, the work that has been done, and the job site itself. Make sure you have access to any feature support you’ll need for upcoming assignments. It’s best to select a knowledgeable partner you can trust to offer the necessary tools and any parts you’ll need for upcoming repairs and upgrades. All of the following requirements should be satisfied by your construction supply company, giving you confidence in your choice. Deliver on Your Promises The most important element to think about when choosing the right excavator is that it must finish the task. To be sure your future excavator has enough power for your work, look at the hydraulic systems and testing alternatives. There are many of individuals who will brag about how effective their method is and how much they can do in a single workday. More potent hydraulic systems enable you to increase your production and efficiency since you are supplying the power you require. The best assistance for your assignment is also part of the performance. Therefore, consider all of the tasks your excavator will need to complete while picking your choice. There are two major support options to think about for your excavator: zero tail swing and zero house swing features. These arrangements allow your operator to operate in close proximity to dig sites, walls, and other obstructions. The zero-swing tail of the excavator makes it more maneuverable and reduces the possibility of collision with neighboring objects, structures, or machinery. Additionally, it shields your operator from making touch with the excavator’s front and sides during turning. Zero-swing options are a fantastic option if you are operating in an area with several obstructions on either side. This configuration, however, calls for a huge excavator, which isn’t always suitable for a project site. Most excavators have an independent boom, which offers them an advantage over conventional backhoes. Your operator can control the machine more effectively and provide a solid foundation with less movement thanks to the boom. You get more visibility and power with more efficient operations. Make it fit your website. Take into account the needs and risks of the project site while choosing your excavator. How does your building site look? Imagine it, replete with risks, demands that are right now, and demands that you expect to arise as your project moves through each step. Imagine all of your requirements before making an excavator buy; this is the most practical method. It’s advisable to select an excavator based on your typical project if you run a large business or want long-term equipment. Different models, for instance, operate better on vast, level plains than in densely populated cities with numerous neighboring structures and barriers. After taking into account your area, assess the tasks carried out on a normal job site. The ideal excavator for your company must be able to lift, haul, reach, dig, and do a number of other jobs. Examine prior projects and collect precise measurements, such as weights or excavation depth. When choosing an excavator for your project, keep the following essential requirements in mind: Engine force. In order to move around your workplace and do your tasks, you’ll need a strong engine. Include the piston stroke and bore in your specifications so you may compare the power of various engines. Weight. Focus on the equipment, operator, and load choices that contribute to the maximum operational weight. You don’t want a big, destructive excavator on your property. Size. Verify that your excavator can fit on the worksite. The standard method for sizing excavators is tonnage, which corresponds to their operational weight. Breakout force grows directly as tonnage does. Dimensions of a bucket Because buckets are one of the most common applications for excavators, be sure to check the types of buckets it supports and the bucket option’s maximum capacity. Size of Excavator Is Important There are several excavators in a range of sizes. While you’re considering your employment requirements and the normal work environment you encounter, start the process of narrowing down your search. First, look at the size and kind of the excavators. Pick a size, such 5 tons, rather than a “small,” keeping in mind that classifications are broad and manufacturer requirements differ. Examine the most typical excavators: little or compact in size. Typically, the smallest excavators are the most mobile. They weigh anything from 2,100 pounds to just about ten tons. A micro is perfect for little jobs and those needing a small workspace, such as those requiring the ability to go around a building or working in areas where there are numerous cables buried in the ground. In addition to consuming the least energy, they also harm the sidewalk, road, and yard the least. Standard. Standard excavators are those that weigh more than 10 tons but less than 45 tons. These are the most flexible excavators, able to perform a variety of jobs and operate in practically any environment. They will be hefty and injure the terrain they must travel since they have a lot of strength. They are strong and portable, but they take up a lot of room. They are fairly widespread in the construction sector. Large. Excavators are categorized as heavy machinery and can weigh up to 95 tons. These devices are the real workhorses of industry. They are not common in cities or in locations where there are many hills close to the construction site, but they are always available to supply energy for large-scale construction projects. There will need to be a significant investment in equipment as well as a trailer to transfer these gadgets to each building site. If you do, you’ll be able to tell if you require this much size and strength. There are many different combinations available for each part. Thanks to contemporary developments, standard and compact excavators are now more adaptable for a range of task scenarios. These include the excavator’s undercarriage’s capacity to retract to fit through narrow openings, such fence gates, and then extend to provide a solid base when the excavator needs one to finish the job. All Depends on Size What Advantages Come With Mini Excavators? Even while a standard or large excavator’s power is effective for various tasks, it shouldn’t be the only one taken into account. Compared to bigger excavators, mini excavators have a number of benefits, including: Less of an impact is felt. Because they are smaller and lighter, mini excavators leave fewer track traces and do less damage to the ground. The footprint is more compact. Compact mini excavators are easier to use while working on a small or busy task site, such a parking lot. Transportation is easy. Mini excavators may be loaded into the back of a utility vehicle or a compact trailer for simple transit between job sites. The transport load is minimal. Some Cat mini excavator models may be legal to trailer and tow with a basic Class C California driver’s license since their operating weight is less than 10,000 pounds. For tasks requiring only a small amount of room, mini excavators are ideal. For instance, working in a backyard requires navigating gates and a constrained area. Many of the same duties that a regular excavator can perform, but on a smaller scale, can be completed by a little excavator. Job tasks that would ordinarily need manual digging can be greatly sped up this way. ADVERTISE OUR MINI EXCAVATORS When ought to one use a mini excavator? What does a little excavator serve? Mini excavators are incredibly flexible since they can be fitted with a variety of accessories. Because of their small size and light weight, mini excavators are more useful than you may imagine. These four tasks are suitable for this kind of equipment. What does a little excavator serve? Mini excavators are incredibly flexible since they can be fitted with a variety of accessories. Because of their small size and light weight, mini excavators are more useful than you may imagine. These four tasks are suitable for this kind of equipment. - Putting in or fixing a utility line The best tool for digging trenches for new or replacement lines is an excavator. When using an excavator, you are trenching behind yourself, however when using a trencher, you are trenching directly into the trench you wish to make. Instead of placing your spoil on the side of the trench, where you might need to move it with another tractor, you can place it where you need it.
2. Demolition When preparing an area for construction, an excavator is a useful tool to have. You may place the material where you want it to be dumped because the excavator can swing 360 degrees. Pool excavation, landscaping, and building pad excavation are tasks that almost exclusively fall within the purview of excavators. When you need to over-excavate a pad for compaction, an additional benefit of excavators is that you may quickly meter the material to the desired thickness for optimal compaction. Another fantastic application for an excavator is to dig the footings for structures like retaining walls or buildings. - Dismantling When tearing down a concrete patio or building, a small excavator might be useful. When pulling out the debris and putting it into the truck or trailer, the machine can be fitted with a hydraulic thumb to hold it in place. Break apart concrete or rocks using a hydraulic hammer or breaker.
- Drilling Holes The little excavator is essential for building projects where operators drill holes in numerous places because of its ability to maneuver in limited areas. If workers utilize a small excavator, they won’t have to rely on manual shoveling or other hand tools to drill the holes. You can drill at just about any angle and reach over obstacles using the mini excavator. Additionally, because the drill is hydraulically propelled, you may place it wherever the excavator stick’s end is.
Comfort for the operator is essential. It’s crucial to match the right excavator to your demands while making your selection. Additionally, it’s crucial to pair the appropriate crew with the suitable excavator. Many varieties have ergonomic seats and controls that are intended with the operator’s comfort in mind. Choose a cab that has ample room and enables quick access to all the excavator’s controls and features. Your operator can work comfortably and adapt to different operators thanks to chairs that are adjustable and have lateral movement. The heating and cooling system should be taken into account when choosing an excavator as part of the comfort factor. These must have adequate power to maintain the comfort of your space. Controls similar to those seen in cars and trucks are common in modern cabs. Check these out to make sure the controls are easy to use. Look for two vents: one in front of and one behind the operator’s seat. More comfort should be taken into account as the excavator is used by your operators for extended periods of time. Choose an excavator that will improve performance rather than hamper it. There are more tools required for the work in addition to an excavator. When you need to accomplish more than just dig, you’ll need a different excavator. Consider the accessories it can hold if you need a machine that is adaptable. Excavators have access to a wide range of attachments that may assist with a number of jobs, such as the following: Buckets. With a variety of styles for digging, grading, ditch cleaning, and other tasks, as well as alternatives to match the severity of your work, buckets are your excavator’s most versatile extension. Couplers. Your excavator can switch tools quickly and without a crew thanks to these accessories. Your machine has the ability to switch between multiple tasks as you move around the job site. Compaction. Compaction wheels and vibrating plates are useful for pipeline contractors for site preparation. Rippers. A ripper may dislodge ice on the ground or even hard dirt. These come at different depths and have the ability to support couplers. They are frequently used for trenching and pipeline support. Hammers. Pavement and building destruction typically involves the use of excavators. Because they can switch between the tool and a bucket using a coupler, hammers are more effective at this task. ADVANCED OPTIONS FOR CHOOSING THE BEST EXCAVATOR VIEW ASSIGNS FOR OUR EXCAVATORS There are a few other features you should consider when buying an excavator. These might help you compare your top options and help you choose the greatest excavator by providing a checklist. Some of the more important secondary characteristics include the following: Included are anti-vandalism features. These options include the capability to lock specific areas and locations on the device, restricting both its use and the removal of anything. These are helpful if you have to leave your excavator at the job site. This shields you from liability if someone is harmed while breaking into your property while also safeguarding your tools and the workplace. power sources There are several power distribution methods available that may provide electricity for your attachments and boom. Some will also include a trick that will give your songs extra force. You can enhance performance in situations where your equipment is likely to be used thanks to these technologies. The controls are hydraulic. Newer excavators feature top-of-the-line hydraulics added in the cab to help with control. It makes the operation simpler and allows your operator to maneuver more precisely. The performance of your operator will also be improved by ergonomic setups. These elements are important to consider while deciding how to buy an excavator. Before making a purchase, get a hold of the excavator and test it out. Get some practical experience with a machine before you hand it any money. This stage is essential in selecting the model of excavator you intend to employ because every excavator is unique. When assessing a possible excavator, look for the things listed below: - Pay attention to how it starts up. Instead of needing to wait for the battery to charge, it is preferred for the engine to start right away.
- Check the area for smoke or leaks. Even though an AC system might leak water and engines can occasionally produce a small amount of smoke, you should always check to see whether these are normal working conditions for the equipment. Make sure any fluid leaks aren’t coming from a crucial system by looking for them.
- Check the oil and other fluids in the machine to see how they are doing. These should be brand-new, but it might be a warning sign if someone is trying to sell you a machine that uses out-of-date hydraulic or other oils.
- Examine the engine and cables right away by opening it up. You want everything to be clean and professional-looking, even the wiring. A lot of electrical tape could be a warning sign.
- Play around with the tools and features. To verify slew ring wear, lifting the boom and manually rotating the body might be effective. When moving a boom with a swivel, check for excessive movement or obvious wear. Booms with swivels may accept a little wiggle in the swivel mechanism.
- A thorough examination may help you avoid a lot of hassles, time, and money. The most significant benefit is that it helps you keep your staff safe, which is a need.
- Choosing the Correct Excavator
- It takes time to learn how to buy an excavator since you want to be sure you’re covering all of your business’s bases.
Because of its adaptability and value throughout the building cycle, an excavator is a great addition to your equipment. Excavators are always working in the construction yard, grading for your foundation, delivering supplies to your employees, and supplying electricity for demolition. Your trusted partner since 1919, Interstate Heavy Equipment, can help you make a selection and specify your work requirements. Whether you’re purchasing new or old equipment, the capacity to complete the necessary tasks is the most important aspect to keep in mind. When making your choice, take into account available features, attachment support, space restrictions, and other aspects. SOURCE submitted by Nana_923 to equipmentbuyandsell [link] [comments] |
2023.05.30 16:36 xDictate Trip report - One week in Portugal
My wife and I took a trip to Portugal early December of 2022, and we had a really solid time. The food experiences were amazing and getting to take in so much old-world architecture was awe-inspiring.
Focus: Our main focus was lazy tourism and fine dining between Porto and Lisbon. We ended the trip with a 9 hour layover in Toronto, which we used to visit friends and some of our favorite Toronto spots.
Weather: The week was mostly sunny with some rain interspersed, and average temperatures seeming to be mid-teens. Toronto at the time was cold and snow-covered.
Accomodations: We ended up doing hotels as they were rather cheap.
Some photos below, along with some detailed notes of the packing list. Photos may be missing some things due to last minute substitutions, tried to note that.
Bag of choice: - Peak Design 30L Travel Bag - This thing felt like a black hole, and seemed to hold more than the size would indicate. This is heads above my old Bellroy Transit and I'm happy I made the switch.
Worn clothing: - Ministry of Supply Atlas Sweater - Not pictured, pictured is a Heattech Ultrawarm sweater I didn't take. Merino blend, soft, warm. All I could ask for. I surprisingly didn't use it much more than just the flight there, but I'm happy I had it on me.
- Ministry of Supply Composite Merino tee - The cut fits me well, anti-wrinkle, and surprising resistance to smells even with only being 15% merino. I got a good 2-3 wears out of this.
- Saxx Quest 2.0 Boxer Briefs - GOAT for travel, these things wear well, hand wash well, and dry overnight.
- Smartwool full cushion crew socks - Merino socks! They were warm and wore well! Smartwool tends to be realtively affordable when on sale, and they've held up very well.
- Lululemon ABC pants skinny - Warpstreme fabric is lovely and in black looks like a pretty standard pair of pants. This is actually the only pants I wore the whole trip.
- Pontos The Pacific shoe - These have been awesome. Very comfortable to walk in, and they dress up or down really nicely. These did cobblestone, grass, rocks, sand, snow, rain, etc, and they looked great doing it. I found I needed to pull the insoles end of the day, but by morning they were dry and fresh again.
- Arcade Midnighter belt - Not pictured. Stretchy black belt!
Packed clothing: - Seagale Action Merino Tee (2) - black tees, easy care, love the fit. They hand wash really well if necessary, but I got 3 wears out of these easily. Having this tee on for the 24+ hours of travel on the leg home was a godsend, great moisture management and incredibly soft.
- Ministry of Supply Composite Merino tee - Grey. The cut fits me well, anti-wrinkle, and surprising resistance to smells even with only being 15% merino. I got a good 2-3 wears out of this.
- Ministry of Supply Apollo Raglan Sleeve Sport Shirt - Basically a button down. This thing fits awesome and doesn’t wrinkle. Standard sleeves would be better but this dresses up well enough - I wore this out to 6 different restaurants in Portugal, and even gave it a whole day as a layer over a tee, and it was very comfortable and performant. No need to wash between wears with a tee under it.
- Ministry of Supply Pace Chinos - I didn't actually wear these, the ABCs were plenty enough for the trip.
- Lululemon T.H.E. Shorts 7” - We didn’t have access to any pools or spas while there, so these were dead weight. Considering they weigh almost nothing though, not a big loss.
- Saxx Quest 2.0 Boxer Briefs (3) - 1 black, 2 grey. I’ve had these for a while and they’re probably still my favorite style from Saxx. They hand wash and dry well, and they’re comfortable. All I can ask for. I washed each pair once over the trip, and they dried overnight.
- Uniqlo Airism Boxers (2) - Sleep shorts. Hand washed once each, and they dried overnight.
- Smartwool Full Cushion Crew Socks (2) - Merino socks! What’s more to say. Smartwool is affordable while on sale and has some great durability. I’ve been happy with my pairs so far. I washed each pair once over the trip, and they really just needed a one day dry. I think the number of socks packed was pretty ideal.
- Smartwool No Show Socks - I didn’t need or use these, but having the emergency socks was a nice include. They’re small and didn’t really add any weight.
Outer Layers: - Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket - Wind proof, water resistant, very insulating. Packs down rather small. I’ve moved to synthetic insulation as it keeps warm when wet unlike down jackets. This held up well to a bit of rain while we were there and kept me warm enough most days.
- Patagonia Torrentshell 3L - Water proof. Wind proof. A bit crinkly, and didn’t really get a lot of use in Portugal due to the lack of heavy rain. Also being waterproof it tends to keep heat in just as well as it keeps water out, so combined with the nano puff it offered pretty good insulation for Toronto.
- Smartwool Glove Liners - Just some basic gloves. They work with touch screens, that’s cool I guess! Solid for Toronto.
- Merino Buff - Part neck gaiter, part sleep mask for the flight. It was awesome to have. On tour buses with an open roof it was very nice to have a bit of insulation I could throw into a sling.
Electronics: - Tom Bihn Ghost Whale Small - This contains my charging and camera connectivity kit, and it’s a tight squeeze but everything fits.
- Mophie 6000mah universal PD battery - Not the smallest or lightest battery, but it supports lightning input, and also does passthrough charging, which makes it the centerpiece for my tiny charging empire.
- Apple SD card readers - These just work, and they work well. Both Lightning and USB-C. Once the iPhone goes to USB-C I can drop the Lightning one. Let’s me ingest RAW files onto any of my devices. I didn’t need the Lightning one, but it’s just a standard in the bag now, so along it came.
- Anker Powerport III Nano 30W - Super slim, 30w charging. It’s been a standard for me for a while.
- Anker Cables - 3ft USB-C to Lightning and 3ft USB-C to USB-C. Covers all my device charging needs.
- Fujifilm X100V - Killer camera, compact, fun to shoot with.
- Tom Bihn Utility Cloth - It’s a wool square! It’s moonlighting as a camera wrap here, but it can be anything! Neck gaiter? Check. Very small blanket? Check. Table cloth? You bet. The options are limitless for the wool square! This was actually an MVP - The tiny blanket feature came in handy on tour buses, and it worked great for wiping down wet seats on a boat tour.
- Keys - Featuring an Airtag, and the final member of the charging gang, an InchargeX. I’ve also got a Nite Ize Doohickey on there for bottles and boxes. The Doohickey is awesome as it passes through airport security without issues and does a good enough job of what it’s designed to do.
- Airpods Pro - Basically perfect headphones for short stints. Reasonable battery life, great noise cancelling, agreeable sound quality. Overall solid.
- Destination Specific adapters (2) - Two is one and one is none, or something like that.
- iPad Mini 6 - Used for editing photos, reading on the plane, larger view for maps, etc.
- iPhone 12 - Works well with everything else I own. I grabbed an eSIM from Airalo on MEO, giving me 30gb of data for 15 days.
- Sony WH-1000XM4 - Not pictured. These were great for the 6-8 hour transatlantic flights. A last minute pick but I’m glad they made it into the bag.
A quick note on my charging setup: The whole setup for charging with my InchargeX allows me to charge two devices overnight AND my battery off a single 30w slim wall adapter. This is about as close as I can get to a perfect tiny charging setup. The iPhone plus the battery is plenty enough to get me through even the heaviest of days, into a second day. Toiletries: - Exfoliating cloth - Nylon textured cloth that’s basically an unravelled loofah. So easy to get a lather and you feel a lot cleaner after a good exfoliating scrub. I use one of these at home now too. I’d like to find a face cloth sized one for travel.
- Unscented Company Shampoo bar and soap bar - Stored in Matador soap cases. These lather really well, clean great, and support my “all solids” agenda for travel. They work great for cleaning clothes too. I’ve been using these at home instead of liquids, and can’t complain. We were never without toiletries due to the hotels, but I prefer these.
- Philips One Toothbrush - Next time I’d probably just get a cover for the head as I think the case was a bit large. I liked having the electric function though.
- Various OTC meds - Stored in Nalgene containers, these little things are waterproof and well built.
- Lush Dirty Toothy Tabs - Toothpaste replacement and my go-to for a while. Enough for both myself and my wife.
- Hair Bands - Two is one and one is none, or something like that.
- Xiaomi Mijia S100 shaver - New to me, picked it over a Philips OneBlade. Dual rotary shaver, compact, USB-C charging. I don’t get a lot of facial hair growth but I get enough that I like touching up every couple days. This did the trick. Might try to go back to a manual razor like a mach 3.
- Native Deodorant - Been my go-to for a while. I can’t seem to find a travel size in Canada, but this would be a huge space saver if I could. I may consider melting it down and re-packing it as some enterprising individuals on the internet have before me.
- Folding brush - I’ve had this for ages, and it’s been awesome.
Everything else: - Bellroy Lite Sling - Very flexible in load out, the 7L size made for a very good holding capacity to size ratio. This functioned as my camera bag and held essentials when transiting through airports or while on trains.
- Tom Bihn Ghost Whale Super Mini - Bag of holding for…
- Ray-Ban Folding Wayfarers - Matte black, high quality, compact. Non-polarized. Perfect fit in the ghost whale and always with me for sunny days. These were great for the trip as we had a lot of sunny days.
- Apple Magsafe Wallet - Not much to say here, standard 3 card carry - ID, debit card, credit card.
- Vapur Eclipse bottle - Didn’t actually use this, but fit in one of the mesh side pouches in my Peak Design bag handily.
- PackTowl Large - Came in handy when we were short a few towels in the hotel the first day in Porto.
- KN95 Masks (3) - Black, used on the airplanes. We didn’t get sick on the trip!
- Matador Packable Tote - Was useful for day excursions, shopping, etc. 18L packs down into a very compact size and it’s a robust bag.
- Passport - Well this is kinda needed for international travel. I also had my Presto (Toronto transit payment card) and alternate credit card in here as a just in case.
What Worked: Overall I think my packing list is cohesive enough and walked the line between casual and nice enough for a good restaurant. I've been working with a lot of this clothing for a while so it's been tested heavily through the rigors of daily wear, and I was very confident in my choices going in. The massive standout was the wool utility cloth - I think more people need these!
What could have been improved: I overpacked on a few things like pants and shorts, which really are just small things. The Pontos were awesome for the trip, but I feel like I would have done better with a pair of Blundstones or a similar Chelsea style boot. I also wish I could find a more casual looking "technical" jacket for daily wear, but the options are limited from what I can find. I think I could have dropped the iPad too, although it didn't take up a whole lot of space and was great for editing photos in downtime or reading on the plane. The Mijia shaver was okay but not amazing.

2023.05.30 05:49 ocp-paradox What makes a good speaker?
I'm shopping around for not just new PC speakers but something to replace my bose soundbar on my TV and get some 5.1 setup. But that's another topic.
I'm trying to compare the PC speakers I have with newer ones, and I'm not really sure what makes a speaker better than another, I figured it was the watts output, I can't find any other specs except db level and just frequency on the ones I have.
Satellite speaker: 16 watts RMS per channel
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 80dB
Frequency Response: 50Hz - 20kHz
Theyre
Gigaworks TIIs and are about 15 years old or something but still work great, except the front aux input is dodgy and I've been meaning to try and take the speaker apart and fix the solder or whatever is loose. Do I actually even need better PC speakers? Will I see much benefit from what I have if I got some fancy expensive things, or should I just save the money for my home theater setup?
EG some I'm just looking at right now say "Power Consumption - 20 Watts Rated Output", but that's probably both combined right? Aside from the price which unless you go like £150+ or above I don't see much difference in any, teach me to identify good from bad speakers please.
Edit: Oh and I am thinking of this for my theater setup;
https://uk.creative.com/p/speakers/creative-sxfi-carrier They cost more than my TV but they seem to be on the borderline between not-good home theater setup and crazy expensive ones. I think my bose soundbar was about £150 so I'm hoping it turns out to be one of those purchases where you think damn I've been listening to audio with tin cans for speakers all my life this changes everything kind of deals. I'd be pretty disappointed to splurge on audio and not really hear a difference, so I'm trying to just figure out what makes some good 2.1 pc speakers vs another, do they all just sorta hit a certain level and then there's nothing better until proper hi-fi speakers etc?
Thank you.

2023.05.29 22:27 Aisling_The_Sapphire Subnautica: Below Zero - The Definitive No-Spoilers Guide For New Players
Updated May 2023 After changing reddit accounts and about a year since posting it, it seemed prudent to throw this up for visibility. :)
Few things are worse than not knowing what happened to a loved one. Which is what convinced Robin Ayou to get into a drop shuttle with a lifepod with basically nothing, then fire herself down onto an ocean planet where the only place that she could investigate was a tiny little patch of barely-even-land and pray she can survive long enough to find a way to get off the planet.
Nobody ever told Robin she was great at forward planning.
https://subnauticamap.io/belowzero - This map will provide direction/orientation for this guide, but BEWARE! It marks spoilers if you turn those on!
Touchdown
Once you've landed, you'll find some food and water to start you off scattered around the ship. You won't have to worry about getting cold, since standing next to your now-burning ship will warm you up and the meteors coming down don't actually paste you, they're mostly to stress you out.
Note that may not be the case later. The weather in this game is a serious thing.
Once you have your stuff, you'll find the drop pod on your HUD. Don't go straight to it, though. As soon as you hit the water, look for an indentation in the ground. You'll find some copper in there. Then, follow the northern glacial wall (That's to your right when you're looking at your lifepod) until you find a small cave, which will have some silver and gold. That'll get you started off nicely. Get to your lifepod, take a look at your fabricator. You'll find that the items you have blueprints for can be pinned to the top-right in your PDA by clicking on them in the blueprints tab, a useful feature when hunting for materials.
Your goals right now are your basic survival tools. Note that the kelp forest is a bad place to hold your stuff in your hand. The sea monkeys are kleptomaniacs and will gank your stuff. You can totally get it back though, it just means chasing after them a bit, which is annoying and wastes time. However, if you pull out a flare and hold it in front of them, they freak out and run away from you for a little bit.
Time To Get Rolling
Your first task, as indicated by the PDA, is to find Delta Island. This becomes relatively easy once you find a compass. If you've gone to the emergency cache you'll have the beacon blueprint so stock up on them before traveling so you can mark things. You're going to be making a lot of these but since you can toggle them it's not so bad, you'll just need a lot of beacons.
Its south of where the drop pod lands. As you spread out your searching range you'll find that the sea floor drops down among twisty coral structures.
This area is called Twisty Bridges. It's the main go-to for coral samples and you'll want those. There's small bits of Alterra stuff scattered around the area.
It's here you'll find mobile vehicle bay, sea truck and seaglide fragments. When you've been in the area for a bit,
you'll hear what sounds like an SOS. It's worth checking that out and you'll find that this spot goes deeper than you might suspect. Makes you wonder what's down there, doesn't it?
Beyond Twisty Bridges lies the thermal spires, an area of volcanic activity and thermal smokers.
Many sea truck fragments are here. The wildlife here is noisy and menacing sounding but if you don't hang out next to them they're easy to avoid. Smacking one with a blade will made it instantly turn and get the hell away from you. They don't like being hit.
On the border between thermal spires and twisty bridges someplace is a small foundation platform with external grow beds for you to scan, but you can get these at Omega Station later if you're not sweating on it. There are large crevices and a few volcanic fissures out here. Beware the heat vents, but exploring those areas can pay off, later.
On the island, you'll find blueprints you need, as well as some materials like sulfur and horseshoe nuts. The latter are very useful to plant in the seabase you'll be wanting. Take care to look around thoroughly for blueprints you'll find useful, as not all of them are inside the buildings. Also, keep a sharp eye out for music disks which you'll find scattered throughout the game, especially in bases.
On the south-west corner of the island is a precursor artifact you can scan. Look for the beach with all the pengwings on it. The habitat builder can be found on a box outside Delta Station. Make sure to scan the map inside the sea base. There's also a PDA up by the comms tower. Let's Go Explorin'
So, by now you've visited Delta Island, have had a good look around Twisty Bridges and you've probably discovered the sea monkey caves in Kelp Forest. If you haven't gone exploring in those, you really ought to.
You'll find more MVB fragments there but that's also where the propulsion cannon blueprint can be found, the laser cutter, as well as a fair amount of gold and some precursor artifacts as well. Once that's all done with and taken care of, you've probably got at least a tiny seabase, but if you don't... what are you doing?
Go on, shoo. Go make a base.
...
Okay, got one now? Good! Hopefully it's someplace nice. Your basic sea truck can't get down to where you want to be going next but a depth module will take care of that. A MkII depth module will let you get to the very bottom of where you want to go. Where do you want to go? Koppa Mine.
You'll find it on the western side of the island. Take care to look around when you find the door eventually, since
there is a databox just inside the main doors, before you head down. It has the
moonpool and will allow you to get that much earlier than you would through scanning it.
To drive the seatruck inside the mine, drive north from the entrance of Koppa mine, you'll come across a volcanic fissure in the seafloor nearby which has JUST enough space for you to fit your seatruck through it. The fissure leads right into Koppa Mine, allowing you to drive the seatruck inside! The other alternative is actually spare air tanks. Totally a viable solution so long as you remember to refill them by equipping them once you're out of the water. You can swap them out mid-dive and extend your breathing time, which is handy since the
prawn fragment blueprints you require are kinda far down there. If you're free diving in this way, note that the bottom chamber of the mine has a hole in the ceiling leading to a small cave system which will lead you back to the surface, as well as having a number of oxygen plants to keep you from choking on the way. The entrance to that is
almost right next to the Delta Station docks.
Also note that Site Zero, which has useful blueprints,
can be found by hugging the northern glacial wall and heading east along it. You can find it by checking breaks in the ice, one of them leads up to a small hidden cave where the base lies. But if you don't find it, you'll be directed here later. It just has some useful things to scan and a lantern fruit tree.
There is a music disk here. Way Down South
By now you've probably answered the SoS. If not, go do that.
As you hang out with Al-An, he'll give you prompts to artifacts that you haven't found yet, if you dawdle in looking for the required number. At this point you should have the following:
- A sea base, even a basic one. The databox in Koppa Mine's entrance will grant you the moon pool but if you missed it, you can get the blueprint later following the storyline.
- Seaglide, knife, propulsion cannon, beacons, repair tool, scanner, flashlight, builder tool
- Seatruck with at least one depth module
- Prawn blueprints
Building the Prawn is surprisingly easy, but requires lithium, a material you probably haven't seen a lot of yet. There's a little scattered around in thermal spires, but only a little. You can find a lot at purple vents,
but be careful to avoid the doom shrimp. A chelicarate hangs out here. There are other things in this area which are relevant to you which you'll want to mark out for later.
There is a small seatruck crash site with a variety of fragments out here, if you find it, look around carefully for the music disk that's here. Following the marker for the unknown pilots last position, you will find a green area rich in confusing cave systems. This area is the lilypads zone.
Old girl can be found down near the signal, just look for the shimmering things on the wall, the hive minds. She's near them. Grab the seatruck defense module she has in there. Be sure to pick up the databox directly outside her base to get the stillsuit as well and if you follow the caves down where they turn blue you'll stumble on an old thermal plant of hers, where another databox lies. There's fragments scattered all over this zone as well as
The mercury II stern, which lays on the border between lilypads and purple vents, as well as the bow, which is a little further in on the western side of lilypads. Be sure to explore the area thoroughly and take note of the massive crevasse near the middle of the zone.
Inside the chunk of land here is Omega Lab, which will net you the external grow beds, nuclear plant, nuclear disposal as well as a couple new beds and the antenna plants. It's in this area you'll need to search for nickel later, so building a scanner station here is a good idea.
Deep Lilypads holds an Al-An body part you'll require. Deep Lilypads is also the only place you can acquire the materials to manufacture benzene.
Don't go too close to the Lily Paddlers, unless you like being off your face, in which case go say hi, it's hilarious.
Trust me. ;D In order to disable the satellite for Dances-With-Reapers, you're going to need to wreck dive the Mercury II.
Two of its sections can be found in purple vents, while the bow - the largest - can be found in Lilypads, west of Omega Labs floating island. You'll need the laser cutter for this. Your goal is to scan the parallel processors in the wreck, but there's all kinds of really useful stuff in there too, not to mention all the titanium. ALL the titanium. So be sure to drop beacons on these things, bring a spare air tank and bring your pathfinder tool. If you don't have the pathfinder tool, go look around in the caves full of emeralds between
Phi Robotics docks and
Phi Robotics itself. There is one up on a small ridge in one of those caves. If you can't find it, don't worry though, just bring flares and use them as breadcrumbs while diving to prevent yourself from getting too lost.
The alien containment tank, reinforced dive suit, parallel processor can be found in these. A music disk is in the bow section on a bridge console. LAND HO!
Aaah, glacial basin. How I hate thee. The basin is split into four sections, two for each part of the basin, north and south. South is where you'll probably end up first.
You can find the docks to access this area by tracking along the northern glacial wall and continuing west until you come to the eye jellyfish. Check the radio tower next to the docks, there is a music disk there. The upper southern area is where
Phi Robotics lays, as well as frost vase plants and spicy peppers. Both of those are excellent crops to grow, as they net you useful things. The spicy peppers scattered throughout the entirety of glacial basin essentially means that you'll not starve while out here so long as you're paying attention to what you're doing.
Note that snow stalkers REALLY HATE FLARES. They'll make your trips out here annoying, even in the prawn, which is the best way to ensure the weather isn't a factor for you. Sometimes they're in the caves. Flares will make exploring these much safer.
You can get to lower glacial basin through the upper part, but it's a bit confusing and I prefer to access it via the glacial tunnel.
Head south along the western glacial wall from the glacial basin docks and you'll find a tunnel which eye jellyfish are hanging out near. This tunnel leads directly to lower glacial basin and provides a convenient way to access the area without needing to travel through upper GB every time.
Northern Glacial Basin can be accessed by
scanning the hydraulic fluid on the bridge, then repairing the bridge to cross it.
DO NOT GO HERE WITHOUT THE PRAWN. SERIOUSLY. The grip arm is very handy to have out here and if you haven't found it, use a scanner room in Lilypads
to find the sea monkey nests but it's not necessary so don't stress if you don't have it. Just don't use the snow fox. It's useless and handles like crap.
The iceworms here are dangerous if you stay still too long. Take your time, explore thoroughly and mark out any Alterra sites you find with beacons. A couple of these have the blueprints for the Thumper and this is your ticket to working in this area safely. A thumper will keep the iceworms away within a radius, ensuring you don't get whacked while picking stuff up outside the prawn.
Along the western wall of this zone is a small cave with three large ion cube deposits. Keep a sharp eye out for it, you definitely want those. At the north-east tip of the zone you'll find ice worm corpses you can scan that don't put you in mortal danger during the attempt. Really funny seeing them pop up and chow down on snow stalkers, though. Pay back sucks, don't it?
Al-An's body part is out here. Keep an eye out for the precursor cables and make sure to check all the caves, because the master gateway leading to Phi Robotics is here as well. The room containing the gateway leads to a small docks and tunnel with an ice wall you can cut through to easily access the middle of northern glacial basin from the docks. There is a music disk at those docks as well. Going Down?
By now you're probably wondering where to go. Remember purple vents?
The engine part of the mercury II has a crevasse leading down to where you need to go next. Once you've found the crystal caves, you better hope you picked up the defense module at
Marg's base. It's sitting inside her room and sometimes gets knocked to the floor when Preston jumps you. You'll be wanting it for what's down here.
The Shadow Leviathan.
Ohhhh boy are they ever aggressive. Good news for you though,
they patrol around on a set route and they don't go through the whole of crystal caves. You'll be looking for fragments here, as well as materials. Lots of gold, silver and kyanite in the crevasses in the floor of these caves.
An Al-An body part, the final one, can be found at the bottom of a tunnel which is mouthed by a circular formation of crystals. Once you have it, you'll want to go even deeper to find the fabrication facility, forcing you to wander crystal caves until you find the blood crystal caves. Oh Yeah, It's All Comin' Together
So, you now have everything you need to
build your home boy a body. Once that's done, you'll be wanting to wrap up the bit with Sam. If you've explored lower southern glacial basin, you'll have found
the cave with the frozen leviathan. Oh, and grab the music disk in the security bunker. Exploring this cave gets you some useful stuff. You know the little caves here with the blinking markers? Explore these with spy penglings! There's some useful stuff in some of them, actually.
Including the antidote Sam hid. You can use that on the loader located on the upper part of the leviathan in the cave. And... that's that! That's the whole game.
Tips and Tricks
- The air bladder can pull a tiny amount of air into your tank. It's not very much but those 10 seconds of extra air can save your life in a deep pinch.
- You can find lots of quartz if you hug the northern ice wall and roam east of west, but be careful of the brinewings. They'll freeze your ass, which can be inconvenient if you're low on air.
- Frost Anemone Hearts are actually a really great food source and should be picked up any time you can get them. They'll last forever in the fridge.
- Made your base with some helpful sea monkey neighbours? After awhile they stop stealing from you and begin trying to help you - but they don't know what you want! If you mark blueprints in your PDA, they'll try and bring you materials for that if they can.
- Most predators will back off if you feed them a fish before they bite you. This includes leviathans. You might still get hurt from them slamming into you or something but feeding them a fish will usually cause them to stop attacking you. This doesn't work against the shadow leviathan, it hates you and everything you hold dear. It doesn't know what those things are, but it doesn't care either. It just does.
- Spare air tanks are great and can be kept stocked in your sea truck, but remember to put them on to refill them.
- Animals will react to your behavior in some instances. Feel tree to try new things with them like feeding fish. You can even ride on glow whales! Some of them really hate flares too, like sea monkeys and snow stalkers.
- Surface bases are a completely viable thing in this game and some of the ice sheets have holes in them, allowing you to have a surface base with a dropped section for moonpools and water filters. Water filters will work outside of the water, but you don't get salt and they're much slower.
- Get the cold suit as soon as you can. It's in Phi Robotics. It changes your outside time from 2 minutes to 7 minutes, which is a huge difference. Without it, the prawn is the only way to explore the surface without constantly stressing about freezing to death. You can find the tufts of fur in snow stalker caves where the pups are, make sure you have a flare if you don't like getting nommed on.
- Can't figure out how to get on top of the ice sheet, but you want a base up there? Swim down deep and use the air bladder to get some height. You can build a hallway up there, then drop a ladder down into the water to make a surface base with an underwater docking section. Alternatively, you can probably get up there with the prawn and the grip arm.
- Speaking of the prawn and grip arm, you can totally launch yourself with it. Attaching the grip to the ground and using it to pull yourself into a jump will get you some serious air time, which is helpful for getting up small ridges on the surface. If you break the map and managed to get above it in the prawn, return to the player area. Being up there breaks progression completely and the only interesting thing is a leftover animation testbed east of glacial basin. The collision on terrain is also patchy here and it's possible to fall through the ground into the void. In your prawn. So don't screw around up there too much.
- Spicy peppers and coffee will both warm you up while on the surface, which makes the spicy peppers scattered all over the place pretty valuable.
- The greenhouse you get sent to can be found in Lilypads on an iceberg. The three large icebergs here all have things to find so be sure to search thoroughly.
- The crashed ship is a great place to get a lot of metal very quickly and will basically hand you a free sea base so long as you're willing to go keep picking it up. If you've already looted it all, give it awhile and check back later, sometimes new scrap shows up as the wrecks continue their eventual rot.
- Drop emergency caches of food, water, medpacks, batteries, power cells and flares along with a beacon and never be caught short on supplies because you went out looking for stuff and forgot to bring rations. D'oh!
- A small base specifically for replacing vehicles is very helpful when you lose one. Have the materials gathered beforehand and you won't have to spend a long time struggling to get them together after the bad feeling of having your stuff crunched.
- Be sure to look for creature eggs out in glacial basin
- Rock punchers are jerks and will kill stuff in your containment tank, so now you know, and knowing is half the battle. And the lives of your fish.
- There is no good way to scan the leviathans, but your scan progress gets saved if you don't scan other things, so letting it chow down on your seatruck and scanning it while it's distracted, then repairing your vehicle after, will allow you to get the whole scan after a couple rounds.
- Make scanner rooms everywhere. Solar panels and bio reactors are your friend. Nuclear power is better but not viable in early game. If you need magnetite, go to the glacial tunnel and look at the ice walls just where the tunnel curves upwards, you'll find ore fissures there with magnetite inside.
- Beacons, beacons, beacons. I can't stress this enough, litter them EVERYWHERE. You can toggle them on and off in your PDA, so having a bajillion around the map isn't really a problem and they're really useful.
- There are more precursor artifacts than Al-An mentions to you. Keep a sharp eye out, look everywhere and scan for ion cubes. Check icebergs for moulins, AKA hollow chambers inside. You'll need a laser cutter to access the ones you find.
- Tree Spires has a hell of a lot of uraninite in its cave systems, it's a good spot to stock up on it. Beware the chelicarate in the zone.
- The crystal caves are roughly the shape of a spiral. Knowing this makes navigating them a lot less mystifying. Mind you, it's still difficult. As usual, use beacons a lot. Also make sure to explore the cracks in the floor of the cave!
- Penglins/Pengwings drown if you leave them in the alien containment tank after hatching :( They have to hold their breaths. If you breed them, make sure to set them free.
- There are no large nodes for lead. You must search for galena outcrops with the scanner room. It's pretty much the only way to stock up on the stuff. The other one people have a lot of trouble with is Magnetite, which can only be found in lower glacial basin. You'll want a scanner room to find it. Upper glacial basin has a TON of lithium if you can handle the ice worms... as well as three large mining nodes for ion cubes hidden in a cave.
- Keep exploring Upper Glacial Basin even if you find the precursor body part. There are ice worm corpses and a slipgate out here for you to find. The slipgate links to the Phi Robotics slipgate and has a tunnel which leads directly back out to the docks that you can only cut open from the inside. There's also a music disk down there on a crate so keep a sharp eye out when you find it.
Good luck, Robin!

2023.05.29 22:20 El_Captain_Steve 2004 Mini Cooper S won't start
Been trying to get an 04 Mini Cooper to start that I acquired from a friend for the low cost of hauling it away. It use to run until the starter died, then it sat for a couple years, so I'm sure the pads and rotors and other things need replaced, but I'm not interested in those yet as I can't get the thing to start.
Got the starter out, it was bad. It tested bad, so I know for a fact it was absolutely shot. Got a new one and it tested good, so at least I know the starter isn't the issue of the new starter.
I have also changed the oil and put 5 gallons of fresh gas in it, as it was sitting for so long on empty I trust neither of those things to be of value.
Replaced the battery as it was bad as it had sat so long to no longer be able to hold a charge. Hooking it up to a jump starter and a fully charged battery didn't make a difference to the starting process. Had so much starting power going through that thing I should be happy the car didn't catch fire. Needless to say though, I don't think the failure to start is not enough voltage or cold cranking amps here in the 90 degree Indiana weather.
Changed the spark plugs and the spark plug wires as the vehicle had plenty of miles on it before hand, and the level of fouling on those things was intense. They may have been good, but were cheap enough to replace and terrible looking enough that I doubt they had much time left for this world. I also checked the wires twice to make sure I have them in the correct firing order.
When I go to start the vehicle I have it in neutral (manual transmission), e-brake on, clutch and brake depressed all the way in, then I turn the key and get a solid click like it wants to turn off, then it stops sending anything to the stater. No mix of clicks, no digging like the starter is trying, it's like it gives the starter half a second to do it's job and then the car cuts it off completely for failing to do so.
The car produces no codes when I scan the ODB2, but when I go into the test mode in the gauge cluster, test 14 returns several codes other than the 000000 (all clear) code. I get 662800, 302800, and 672800. I can find stuff all over on how to enter the test mode to get the codes but nothing on what those codes mean. They could be important, they could be codes just there to mock me.
So at this point I'm turning to people smarter than me (everyone else that isn't me) in hopes that anyone has and idea what to do at this point. I debate trying to push start it, but the tires and brakes are in such condition that I fear doing that in a residential neighborhood would not make me popular. I'm only comfortable risking my own safety.
If any pictures would help, I'll more than happily try to get them. Just let me know what to get.

2023.05.29 19:49 Emmbego Bluetooth headphones stuttering when connected simultaneously with bluetooth keyboard (PC - W11)
Hi everyone.
I'm on Windows 11 and suffering from some issues regarding my bluetooth headset. I got a Sony WH-1000XM4 I use with my desktop PC. For connectivity i got a device from TP-Link, a small usb dongle for bluetooth connection cause as a desktop pc i dont have a wireless card. I also use a Keychron K2 wireless keyboard.
When I'm using the headset on wireless, and the keyboard too, there is some stuttering on the audio, and sometimes a little bit of lag on the keyboard. When i connect the keyboard through usb, the stutter stops; so for a good experience i got to use the keyboard on wired mode, which is not ideal.
I also used a Bose Soundlink II headset and same issues. By the way, i'm on windows 11, and i remember using the Bose headset on windows 10, along with the wireless keyboard and everything was fine, no stuttering. (with exactly same hardware).
I'm looking for help on what should i do, or what things should i check on hardware and software.
Thank you in advance. :)

2023.05.29 18:10 throwpoo 2013 E350 okay to purchase?
| Found a private seller near me selling for 9.5k. This is going to be a spare car. My dad is a huge fan of Mercedes and owned several benz before he passed away. He kept telling me to get one but I'm frugal so I only bought used Jap cars. It's more of a sentimental thing really since it's a childhood memory of the time I spent with him. Is this really a bad purchase and am I going to regret it when I have to spend tons to keep to running? Financially I'm doing well but as I said earlier I'm frugal and getting a Mercedes is not me. More of honoring my dad. submitted by throwpoo to mercedes_benz [link] [comments] |
2023.05.29 15:31 DilaZirK A work-in-progress DEW Support build, and the cost of such a build. Feedback welcome.
This Support build's most recent outing was in
u/Jayiie's
1mil DPS SS Hydra run. However, there is still quite a bit of room for improvement here, and I thought I'd share it in its current form both for feedback purposes and to satisfy my curiosity on its cost.
Build cost info will be shown in estimated real world dollar values, using the approximated conversion rates in the table below. The final cost estimate represents the amount it would take for a brand new player to copy this build right away as of today. (
Disclaimer: Do
not do this, it is a terrible use of hard-earned money)
If anyone needs help figuring out some of the abbreviations used in this post, feel free to ask, or use tools like VGER:

Traits & Duty Officers
Trait | Name | Description | Notes | Cost | Approx. Real World Cost (USD) |
Personal Traits | Feel the Weight of Our Presence | Each friendly ship on the map debuffs Damage Resistance Rating of Foes within 12km by 0.5 for 10sec, stacking up to 12.5 for 25 Allies. | Best used with hangar pets, usually teammates have some. | 7mil EC | 0.73 |
| Invasive Control Programming | When you use certain Control powers on your target, also trigger random Subsystem Disable. May occur once every 30 seconds. | 25% chance to KO enemy shields. | 40mil EC | 4.17 |
| Psychological Warfare | +20% Bonus Control Ability Effectiveness | Increases the pull strength of Grav Well, but not the pull radius. | 50mil EC | 5.21 |
| Astrophysicist | +10 Exotic Particle Generator, Drain Expertise and Perception. | Filler trait, I am open to suggestions here. | Free | 0.00 |
| Into The Breach | Defeating an enemy debuffs nearby enemies' damage resistance rating by 7 per rank of the downed enemy. | I am unlikely to land killing blows on this build, but it's there if I happen to. | 35mil EC | 3.65 |
| Fleet Coordinator | +2% Bonus All Damage per Team member (Self included), up to 10% | Mandatory in Team TFOs. | Free | 0.00 |
| Fragment of AI Tech | Improves Control Expertise. Improves Energy Weapon Damage based on Control Expertise (maximum 30% at 300 Control Expertise) | More for the +50 CtrlX than the damage boost. | 35mil EC | 3.65 |
| Intelligence Agent Attaché (IAA) | Weapon Critical Strikes partially recharge Captain Ability | Best used with an effective CrtH of at least ~50%, which this build does fall a bit short of. | 45mil EC | 4.69 |
| The Boimler Effect | Provides a chance for using Bridge Officer Abilities to recharge all other Bridge Officer Ability recharge times up to their respective Shared Cooldown Categories | Main BOFF CDR method. | 80mil EC | 8.33 |
| Unconventional Systems | Using Control Bridge Officer Abilities reduces the cooldown of all Universal Consoles by 7%. | Very important to get multiple uses out of all my console clickies in the course of an ISE/HSE. | 50mil EC | 5.21 |

Starship Traits | Superior Area Denial | Beams: Fire At Will & Cannon: Scatter Volley Debuff Foes And Apply To Pets | Extra -30 DRR, stacks with SAD from teammates. | 1x Lockbox ship | 125.00 |
| Redirecting Arrays | While Beam: Fire-at-will Is Active, Receiving Any Damage Grants 0.33 Sec Duration To Fire-at-will (15 Sec Total Duration Maximum) | Not as good an extender as ETM, but I am lazy to switch it up depending on whether the DPSer needs all the CF3 to themselves. | 1x C-Store ship | 30.00 |
| One Impossible Thing at a Time | To Self and Team: -5% Recharge Time on Captain Abilities (Max once every 5 sec) | Partly helps the team, but mostly helps myself use EPS Power Transfer more often, as this Support build does not have quite enough crit for IAA. | 1.5mil EC | 0.16 |
| Carrier Wave Shield Hacking | When your ship uses a Tractor Beam or Intel Power on an enemy, it knocks an enemy's shields offline for 5 seconds. | Parting Gift would also work as filler for DEW support. | 1.5mil EC | 0.16 |
| Electrified Anomalies | Your Boff Anomalies Deal Electrical Damage & Grant Power Boosts | Mostly for the power boost to allies, which is already being fulfilled by Greater Than The Sum. Might replace this with Digital Compilation instead. | 17k Zen Mudd's Store | 170.00 |

| Matter-Antimatter Specialist (Very Rare) | +25 CtrlX for 30s upon Emergency Power to Engines. | From Exchange. For a bit more pull for the Grav Well. | 10mil EC | 1.04 |
| Demera | Chance to create up to four additional Gravity Wells near the end of the duration of any Gravity Well activated. | DOFF assignment reward. SUBOPTIMAL. 27 of 47 would be superior, but expensive. | Free from DOFF assignment reward | 0.00 |

Table formatting brought to you by ExcelToReddit Remarks on Total Approx. Real World Cost
Roughly 1.2k USD for this build. Making this pretty much as expensive as an uber-meta DPS build. Little wonder then that there aren't more Support players around.

2023.05.29 15:30 DilaZirK A work-in-progress DEW Support build, and the cost of such a build.

2023.05.29 13:51 throwaway21093333 Bose QuietComfort earbuds will no longer charge with the case closed
Hi guys I have just noticed that my Bose Quietcomfort earbuds will no longer charge with the case closed, usually I can charge the case with the buds inside closed and it will charge to 100% but after I last charged the buds with the case inside the case appeared to be fully charged but the buds inside were only charged to 70%. So last night I re set the buds and charged them with the case open to 100%. I then used them for only 5 minutes, put them back in the charged case and then this morning when I tried to use them again it said ‘Battery low.’ As I have tried to re set the buds already do I need to contact Bose support for a replacement at this point? I’ve noticed the buds will still charge if the case is open and connected to my Bluetooth but not when the case is closed.

2023.05.29 13:02 MaybeIndecisiveBee Bose QC 35 II replacement with "Remember" function?
Good day,
I have a Bose QC 35 II and I am super satisfied with it - sadly after 6+ years the battery does not last a full (working) day anymore. I searched stores in my country to get another pair - but they got replaced by the "Bose QC 45" and are out-of-stock.
I ordered the QC 45 but returned it after a week (horrible voice quality, input lag on the buttons, APP features). The main issue was the voice quality since I use them 8h a day for phone and video calls (the ANC was decent thou).
I am searching for replacements and apparently the Sony WH1000XM5 looks decent. But it is missing the feature to connect to remembered devices via a button on the Headphones itself - you have to open the APP on your phone. On Bose you can cycle through all your paired connections by pushing the Bluetooth button quickly. I use this feature extensivly and multiple times a day since i have connected all my audio devices to the headset (two notebooks, two phones, tv, tablet, etc... etc...)
Does anyone know of a device which has this "cycle trough paired connections" function with a button like the Bose 35/45 has? (I know the Bose NC700 has it - but thats not available in my country)
My full "wishlist" would be: Good ANC, Full Overear, BT 5+, 3.5 jack, USB-C, Multipoint Connections, Remember function.
All recommendations appreciated, thank you in advance :)

2023.05.29 10:53 050192Tr Couple questions
Anyone know how to get streets of rage remake to run on onion os 4.2? It ran on the default sd card that came with the system but the instructions on the wiki are outdated and only seem to work for previous iterations of onion.
Also, is there a battery upgrade or equivalent replacement source anyone knows of for the Mini +? The battery life is supposed to be 6 hours or so but mine does not last nearly that long.

2023.05.29 04:41 h8rain Anyone familiar with installing an amplifier in a Hyundai Ioniq 5?
I am in the process of replacing the stock door speakers and tweeters. I have the front set done (Infinity Reference REF-6530cx). The issue is they sound fairly good, but I think I ultimately am going to need to add an amp. The question is has anyone ran a power cable from the 12V battery through the firewall to the hatch area of an Ioniq 5? I would love some recommendations on the best route to do this. I found a great write up on how to remove the door, but I am coming up empty on amplifiers. Which Crutchfield doesn’t recommend, but I can’t imagine a 500w amp being that big of an issue.
I would also love some recommendations on if there is a t-harness or something that I can get to utilize the existing wiring to get the high level signal and/or the power to the speakers without having to run all new cables (if possible). I was thinking about hacking up a puzu #37 harness, but I was not 100% sure if that is the same connector for the Ioniq as other Hyundais
Thanks!
Edit: I have a non-Bose SEL.

2023.05.29 02:04 unsteadied [USA-MA] [H] Unopened iPhone 14s, iPhone 11 Pro Max 512GB, chargers, USB-C to Lightning cables and others, cases, adapters, boxes, stickers, and more! [W] PayPal or local cash
I've got a whole bunch of Apple stuff kicking around, and
here's the picture with the timestamp that shows all of it. I'll be mostly in the US visiting family for the next couple weeks and can do local deals, but after that it'll be shipping only. All prices are without shipping since there's so many smaller items and it'll probably make sense for people to bundle stuff together, if you'd like to know what something costs to ship, just PM me your ZIP code and I'll weigh it out in a box and let you know what the actual shipping cost will be.
If you want to buy something or want better pictures or just have questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM! No chats please, Apollo doesn't work with them and I do 99% of my Redditing via my iPhone and iPad so I'll never see the chats, only PMs.
iPhones
2x iPhone 14, Midnight 128GB, T-Mobile Locked (Sealed in box) -- $620 ea. + shipping Wound up snagging a 14 Pro Max and 14 Plus instead and never opened or activated these, but they were bought from a T-Mobile store so they're going to be carrier locked to T-Mobile. Probably works with MVNOs on the same network, but I can't guarantee it.
Here's a timestamp showing both seals still intact. iPhone 11 Pro Max, Midnight 512GB, Unlocked -- $500 + shipping No history of repairs, factory unlocked, maximum 512GB storage, still has a whopping 93% battery health left somehow. I've used it with both physical SIMs and eSIMs across the US, Mexico, and Canada without issue. It lived its life in a case and it shows, it's in excellent condition.
Here's a bunch of pictures, I can bundle in that spare charger in the pics if you want it.
Cables
Genuine Apple Power Extension Cable MK122LL/A (New!) -- $12 + shipping Brand new pulled from the box of one my MacBook Pros over the years. No retail packaging, just the original plastic sleeve that holds it in a little bundle. Replaces the regular plug with a three prong grounded extension cord on any Apple power adapter that has the removable duckhead power plug.
Caineii MFi Certified Coiled USB-A to Lightning Cable (New!) -- $5 + shipping Brand new, no retail packaging. Was included with a charger, but I already have more USB-A to Lightning cables than I can use.
Monoprice USB-A to Lightning Cable (Used) -- $3 + shipping Used and working.
Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable (New!) -- $7 + shipping New, but has a little spot on the cable from when I tossed it onto a desk and it landed directly on a pink Sharpie I had left uncapped.
2x Genuine Apple USB-C to Lightning Cables (New!) -- $8 ea. + shipping Brand new, pulled from iPhone boxes and still in the little cardboard holder things Apple uses.
Genuine Apple USB-A to Lightning Cable (New!) -- $5 + shipping Brand new, still in the little cardboard holder thingy.
Monoprice 3' 3.5mm Aux Stereo Cable (New in retail packaging) -- $4 + shipping Brand new in slightly torn retail packaging, this was a spare I had kicking around from when I had a car without Bluetooth audio (horrifying, I know).
Cases
Teloxy iPhone 14 Pro Max Case (New!) -- SOLD to u/Luxlord1 New in retail packaging. Basic black two piece case (soft inner layer, hard shell) for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Looks to be about medium duty in terms of strength and size.
Pelican Guardian iPhone 11/XS Pro Max Case (Used) -- $7 + shipping Used, but in damn near new condition with retail packaging, never dropped. Nice and rugged without being bulky and with ribbed edges with a nice grippy texture that doesn't snag in pockets. Really really good case with a lifetime warranty from Pelican, and was only used for a few months on my 11 Pro Max which was a temporary replacement for my stolen 13 Pro Max until I could snag a 14 Pro Max.
Speck Balance Folio Clear Rose Gold Woven Metallic iPad 10.2" (7th, 8th, 9th Gen 2018 - 2021) Case (New!) -- $15 + shipping Brand new Speck brand case in original retail packaging. Fits 2018 through 2021 iPad 10.2" models and has a rose gold carbon-fiber look textured material.
Chargers
Genuine Apple 5W USB-A Charger A1265 (Used) -- $4 + shipping Used in good shape and working.
Genuine Apple 85W MagSafe Charger A1343 (Used) -- $25 + shipping Used with the normal light scratches on the shiny white plastic but in great shape overall since this was my backup charger years ago. MagSafe Gen 1 with an L-shaped connector. Includes a power extension cord with the three-prong grounded power plug, but no little folding duckhead connector.
Two Port USB-A Car Charger, 15.5W/3.1A total output (Used) -- $3 + shipping Generic car charger that was powering my dash cam and a wireless charger pad, works fine.
Misc.
iPhone 4 GSM A1332, Black (Not Working) -- $10 + shipping Doesn't turn on, no idea why, and the two bottom screws are missing. Harvest for parts or disassemble to make one of those neat exploded parts view shadowboxes.
7x Apple Stickers (New!) -- $1 ea. + shipping Classic white Apple stickers. One dollar per sticker, but there's two sheets with two stickers on them, those are two bucks each or I guess I can cut the sheet in half if need be.
Genuine Apple Folding Charger US Plug aka Duckhead (Used) -- $7 + shipping Used but in really really good shape. Here's the little US duckhead that fits into the Apple chargers with removable plugs.
Genuine Apple SIM Eject Tool (New!) -- $3 + shipping No retail packaging, pulled from iPhone box. Sure, you could use a paper clip, but this is nice and flat and fits into a phone case or something so it's good for travel. Or maybe you're an obsessive collector who needs every Apple product ever. I don't judge. ;)
Genuine Apple Lightning to Aux/Headphones 3.5mm Adapter (New) -- $7 + shipping No retail packaging, pulled from an iPhone box back in the good old days when Apple actually used to include stuff with your thousand dollar phone purchase.
Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (Used) -- $5 + shipping Good for hooking up Mini DisplayPort Macs to those old projectors at the office that only have VGA ports.
iPhone Boxes
Genuine Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max Box, Silver -- $12 + shipping Here's the box from my stolen 13 Pro Max, a phone which has since been gutted by gun-toting Colombian gangsters after they couldn't unlock it or get me to give up the code. RIP. Includes paperwork/instructions.
Genuine Apple iPhone 7 Plus Box, Silver -- $10 + shipping One for the collectors. Includes paperwork/instructions.
Genuine Apple iPhone 6 Box, Silver -- $10 + shipping Also for the collectors, also includes paperwork/instructions.
Genuine Apple iPhone 5 Box, Black -- $10 + shipping Again for the collectors, again includes paperwork/instructions.
Okay, so I think that's everything! Message me if you've got questions and I'll get back to you ASAP.

2023.05.29 00:32 Virtual_Target_4681 2010 Prius II with replaced hybrid battery & fixed radiator
I am considering buying a 2010 Prius II for $7700 and 120k miles on it.
The hybrid battery was replaced in 2021 and the radiator was fixed after the owner hit a large pot hole (a claim was filed through their insurance)
My questions are, should I expect the replaced battery to last for a long time? Do replaced hybrid batteries have a higher rate of failure?
How serious is a repaired radiator? Is this something that might cause expensive issues for me in the future, and will the accident report make the car more expensive to insure?
From the service records the car seems to have been well taken care of, here is what I know so far:
Tires replaced in 2021 - Replaced spark plugs in 2022 - Fuel induction serviced in 2022 - Cooling system fully serviced in 2022 - Brake rotors, pads and fluid replaced in 2022 - Bumper replaced in 2023

Overall Comments
What I didn't miss Luckily, I was traveling on a new Boeing 787 so it was quiet enough that I didn't have to bring my usual pair of noise cancelling Bose headphones. I also chose not to bring a water bottle, rain jacket, and umbrella. I thought I would probably buy a plastic water bottle anyway; I got one at the hotel, so I just used that. For the rain jacket and umbrella, I reasoned that if it rained, my jacket and bags were weather resistant enough to get me from point A to point B without being soaked; I also did bring a pair of waterproof shoes so that was taken care of. The weather ended up being very nice as well so no rain gear was needed despite rain showing on the forecast before I left.
What I didn't end up using I didn't end up using pads/tampon, most of my medicine, the energy chews, nor the blazer. I also had underwear to spare (planned). London does feel rather more formal than say, New York, but I think if you present neatly and stick to more casual places it'll be fine. I went to a stuffy Michelin starred restaurant in all black (including Patagonia fleece and black On shoes) and no one batted an eye. Nonetheless, except for the blazer, I feel like I will still continue to pack these things because the people I was traveling with had to use bandaids, needed the eyedrops, etc... and I didn't want to worry about having to wash underwear.
Things I wished I brought I wished I brought along my flip flops. Some hotels do not give slippers and I'm just naturally suspicious of the cleanliness of hotels even if they are rated well.
Overall Thoughts It was my first trip with the Allpa 35L. It did take me some time to figure out how to pack and wear it, but by the end of the trip, it was very comfortable. I also really liked the zipper loops that make it harder for people to open your bag, really gave me peace of mind when traveling through crowded locations. I think my experience would have further improved if I had gotten true compression organization bags.
I will also note that I did see only two other people with Cotopaxi Allpas Del Dias (the colorful ones) which while cute I think it does unfortunately signal tourist/backpacker in the places I visited at least. I live in the American Midwest where Cotopaxi is pretty common so if I saw someone walking down the street with one of their bags I wouldn't assume they are traveling necessarily. If it's important to you to remain more inconspicuous and have a Cotopaxi, probably get a black or brown one.
For the data plan, I used the 7 day plan from
Holafly, unlimited data. It's one of the few unlimited data plans, and I knew I was going to use a lot of data so that's why I chose this. At the end of the trip, I had used about 5gb. The only caveat was that you only get 4g data, but honestly the speed was totally fine. Other data plans I saw were about the same price but you only got 2-3gb of data at 5g speeds. Also, I was traveling with someone who lived in the UK who used Vodafone, and quite often I had signal when they did not, so I think Holafly coverage is pretty good. The only thing is that for some reason coverage on the Heathrow tarmac was really bad, so it was pretty worrying when I landed and I tried to activate it and not going through... but that was literally the only time the signal was bad.
Randomly, I had to call the hotel, which you can't do on the Holafly plans (data only). However, I have a Google Voice number and had filled it with credit years ago, so I was able to call through data. The rate was $0.01/minute and I had like $9.00. If you think you might need to call non-emergency numbers, you could look into making a Google Voice number and adding some small credit. There's probably other ways too but I just already had the credit.
I thought I might have needed to do laundry at some point, so I checked if my hotels had one-day laundry. In the last hotel I stayed in, it said it did not, but they actually did--so if stuff like that is important to you, you might consider asking. For the first hotel, I decided to go with a nice 5-star hotel, which actually provided me with water bottles, a tube of travel detergent, and a full-size lint roller... overall I thought it was a good choice because then I got a bunch of stuff that I didn't need to pay for and set me up for the next days of traveling.
If you've made to the end... congratulations & happy to answer any questions.
Edit: added the charging brick.

2023.05.28 19:17 Then_Membership_232 2 questions about bose quietcomfort II earbuds
Good morning, I have 2 questions for you about my Bose QC II earbuds.
- I plugged my earbuds (both in bose case) to charging last night, It has about 8 hours to charge. When I took it out both earbuds has 90% of battery - why isnt 100%? This is how it should be on this model ?
- Very specific thing. I would like to test my pair a lot so i tested listening in max volume and i have pretty weir sound (like poping) only in right earbud. So i need to clarify it with your help because I think something is wrong - i test it in Sony (headphones) XM4 and in Airpods Pro 1 gen - In this two everything is all right.
If someone has Bose Quiet Comfort II earbus go to spotify
https://open.spotify.com/track/5nIYGyR9SiX47qwrnQDDbX Play "Blade Theme - Original Edit" in MAX volume (i use max only for testing) and play from 30 sec to 60 sec of this track and tell me please if you will hear something strange - like popping/clicking
Thank You!
